This ammonite is an unbelievably beautiful specimen! It is the rarest of the 3 species we find. This ammonite’s shape is extremely well preserved showing the two rows of tubercles (bumps protruding from the surface of the ammonite) specific to this species as well as pronounced bumps along its venter (outer edge). It displays all colours of the spectrum on both sides. The colours are extremely bright and this ammonite is really as good as Canadian ammonites get! This Placenticeras intercalare ammonite measures 17 cm (6 ¾”) across and weighs in at 1.1 kg.
