This ammonite displays extremely bright colours throughout including different shades of reds, oranges, golds, greens and the rare blues. It has great shape and distinct patterns only found in these fossils. This ammonite has all the characteristics of why colourful Canadian ammonites from Alberta are considered precious. Almost half of its structure is compressed from the more than 71 million years of pressure from the miles of overlying sediment. Amazingly, the second side managed to retain most of its original shape; a very unique and beautiful show or natural beauty. This Placenticeras costatum ammonite measures 41 cm (16”) across and weighs approximately 5.0 kg.
